How ranking works

One number.
Every input logged.

Momentum is a score from 0 to 100, recomputed weekly for every restaurant and every craving it serves. It answers one question: how good is this place, for this craving, right now.

Recent rating. The rating inside the window, weighted by how many people spoke. Small samples are pulled toward the city average, so three reviews cannot make a legend.

25%

Velocity. How many people are talking compared with the restaurant's own year. Capped, so one viral week does not own the score.

20%

Dish sentiment. What people said about the dishes that define the craving. A great biryani at a place with slow service still ranks for biryani.

15%

Diner signals. Saves, votes and check-ins on Gabbar Eats. Grows in weight as the site grows.

5%

Editorial. Gabbar is allowed an opinion, bounded to a few points, always with a written reason.

Rising means the score moved up five or more points in thirty days. Cooling means it dropped five or more. Sponsored rows say so, sit outside the numbering, and the scoring code does not read the sponsorship table.

Ratings and counts come from Google and licensed review providers; short quotes are attributed. We never republish reviews in full. Owners who dispute a score can request the full input log for their restaurant.
